HARKER HEIGHTS (December 11, 2012)—A Harker Heights man was being held Tuesday in the Bell County Jail after police arrested him in connection with an incident Sunday night in which shots were fired at another man.

Kevin Cornelius, 23, was ordered held on a $100,000 bond, charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Cornelius shows an address in the Warrior Path trailer park and it was there that police say at about 10 p.m. Sunday he and another man were involved in a disturbance that escalated to the assault.

Investigators say Cornelius and the victim were arguing after Cornelius accused the other man of sleeping with his girlfriend.

An arrest warrant affidavit says Cornelius left the area but later returned and asked the victim to come speak with him to resolve the issue.

But, the affidavit says, when the victim showed up he was struck in the face, a gun was held to his head and shots were fired at him.
