BELTON (December 12, 2012)—A large storage building just west of the city still was burning early Wednesday as firefighters from several departments battled the flames and by mid-morning Wednesday, crews were still at the scene.

Belton firefighters, after battling a blaze at a local church since midnight, were sent just after 4 a.m. Wednesday to the scene of a structure fire on U.S. Highway 190 just west of Farm-to-Market 1670.

When the first units arrived they found a two-story metal storage building on the south side of U.S. 190 engulfed in flames.

Harker Heights and Salado fire departments also responded to the blaze and, within a short time, units from Morgan’s Point, Bell Central and Little River also responded.

The two-story metal building was used to store antiques.

The fire destroyed building and all of its contents, fire officials said.

The cause has not been determined.

No injuries were reported.
