ROBINSON (December 20, 2012)—Two men were named in indictments Wednesday in connection with the July beating death of a Robinson man.

Shane Tyler Sims, 28, was indicted for murder in connection with the July beating death of Matthew Ray Easley, 56, who was attacked in his home in Robinson.

Joe Orlando Gutierrez, 29, was indicted for murder as an habitual criminal in connection with the same murder.

Both remained in the McLennan County Jail on Thursday, Sims ordered held on bonds totaling $250,000 and Gutierrez on bonds totaling $500,000.

A third man, Clinton Douglas Mills, 30, of Hewitt, also is being held in connection with the same murder but records show he has not yet been indicted and he was listed on the jail log as being held without bond.

Gutierrez and Sims both were arrested in October, Mills was arrested in July.

Mills posted a $500,000 bond and was released but later was listed on the jail log as having had his bond revoked on the murder charge and is being held without bond following his return to jail on Oct. 4 on a driving while intoxicated charge out of Travis County.

Relatives found Easley unconscious in his home just before noon on July 11.

He died several days later at a local hospital after he was taken off life support.

Easley was the victim of an earlier attack in August 2010.

Police don't believe the two were related.
