BELTON (December 20, 2012)—The Bell County Grand Jury returned an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon indictment Wednesday against a Killeen man who’s also charged with murder in connection with a deadly shooting.

The new indictment stems from an earlier incident.

Cliffton Sivad Montague, 27, was indicted earlier in connection with Oct. 11 murder of Latternace Deshaun Newsome, 24, inside an apartment in the 3200 block of Hereford Lane.

Montague remains in the Bell County Jail in lieu of $1.1 million bond.

He was arrested at around 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 17 in the 400 block of South 2nd Street in Killeen, a day after police issued a public appeal for information about his whereabouts.

Newsome was found shot to death just after 11 p.m. on Oct. 11 at an apartment in the 3200 block of Hereford Lane in Killeen.

Investigators determined he was visiting the apartment when he and another man began to argue.

The argument turned physical and the other man pulled a handgun and shot Newsome to death.
