(May 9, 2008)--The weekly AAA-Texas gas price survey released Friday shows regular self-serve is averaging a record-high $3.54 per gallon in the 11 areas surveyed, a penny more than last week.

The national average price climbed 2 cents to $3.65 per gallon.

Auto club spokeswoman Rose Rougeau says record-high crude oil prices topping $120 per barrel continue to push up gas prices at the pump.

The most expensive gas in the weekly Texas survey is in Amarillo, where the average price rose 5 cents to $3.58 per gallon.

The cheapest gas is in El Paso, where the price climbed 3 cents to $3.49 per gallon.

Around the state Friday, prices ranged from $3.38 a gallon at a station in Angleton to as much as $3.79 a gallon at a station in Clyde, according to Texasgasprices.com

It really is sad to know that you have to really decide to buy food for your family or to buy gas and now a days they are both ridiculously high all i can say is God help us all and especially our Government, and all the people that make the decisions in these types of situations

jeff in belton, i see what your saying, but, it doesn't really matter if the gov. uses the cards or pays out of pocket for fuel because we pay for it anyway, we pay their salary and for the cards out of taxes taken from our hard earned paycheck. so either way we are screwed.

I just saw an article in the Temple paper today where Oncor was ASKING to raise the price of natural gas. TXU is always ASKING to raise the price of electricity. The oil companies TELL everyone the price is going up. If the government can regulate the prices of electricity and natural gas, then why in the world can't they regulate the price of gas and diesel fuel???? Our government could easily tell the oil companies, "You will be allowed to make profit every year, but ONLY up to five percent more each year. PERIOD!

can you spell legal theft ( gas prices ) Diesel is a a junk fuel but because more cars and trucks use diesel now they jack up the prices ( legalized theft ). The governent don't care they all drive goverment cars that are fueled by governent credit cards. Make them drive their own cars with cash out of their pockets and see what happens.

does anybody else think that a boycott of exxon mobil might have some impact on the gas price? i dont see how it could hurt, at least it would let oil companies know we wont just sit back and take it without a fight. yes ive seen the explanations on the net, of why a boycott wouldnt work, but, it hasnt been tried yet so nobody can say for sure if it would work or not. i think its worth a try.the boycott would need national attention to do it right.
