Democrats Use Radio Address To Call On GOP To Alter Energy Policy Save Email Print

A | A | A

(May 10, 2008)—In the Democratic Party’s weekly radio address Saturday, Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow said the rising price of oil is no longer just a burden, but a "crisis for every American family."

Oil rose above $126 a barrel for the first time Friday and gasoline prices rose above an average $3.67 a gallon at the pump.

She used the address to promote Democratic proposals for changing energy policy, including an end to billions of dollars in tax breaks for big oil companies.

Forcing the oil companies to invest some of their profits in clean and affordable alternative energy, and temporarily stopping the diversion of oil to the national Strategic Petroleum Reserve are among other proposals.

Do these morons not realize that forcing the oil companies to do what the government wants or raising taxes on them will just raise the cost of gas at the pump? Who will pay for all the government regulations or taxes? YOU! The oil companies will pass any increase right on to the consumer. We need less govenment regulations not more. Let us drill and produce our own resorces..
