(May 12, 2008) – A Waco woman was slightly injured in an early morning house fire in the 700 block of Dawson St.
Fire units were dispatched to the scene at about 7 a.m. and first units responding reported heavy black smoke from several blocks away.
The house was fully involved by the time units actually arrived at the address.
The woman, who has not yet been identified, reportedly suffered minor burns as she escaped the burning home.
She reported to fire department officials she heard some type of explosion and is was followed by flashes of fire.
Fire department officials at the scene told News 10 they suspect a gas heater as the cause but that had not been confirmed.
The living room of the home suffered fire, smoke and water damage and the remainder of the house was damaged by smoke and water.
The woman was not injured badly enough to require hospitalization.
Fire officials said the cause of the blaze in under investigation.
