(May 12, 2008)--Grand Prairie police shot a barricaded man to death Monday after he opened fire on officers who responded to a report of his suicide threats.
Police did not immediately release the name of the 46-year-old man who was shot and killed Monday morning during a standoff at an apartment.
Detective John Brimmer said police responded to a report that someone was firing a gun inside an apartment.
Brimmer said police negotiated with the man for about 45 minutes, even as the man fired inside the apartment.
The standoff ended when the man directed the gunfire at police.
A tactical officer then fatally shot the suspect.
No officers were hurt.
