(May 14, 2008)—Sixteen Texas National Guard soldiers were on standby with high-profile vehicles in Central Texas and in other areas of the state Tuesday evening because of the potential threat from a line of storms that formed along a line stretching from the Rio Grande into Arkansas.

Most of Central Texas was under a tornado watch until 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Guard troops and vehicles are also positioned in Abilene, Wichita Falls and Wiley.

The first storm system, which according to the National Weather Service was capable of producing tornadoes, damaging winds and 3-and-a-half-inch hail, has now moved west of Interstate 45 and out of Central Texas.

A second storm system now approaches from the west. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been extended until 10 am for our southern counties, where storms could produce some hail, high winds, and flooding rainfall.

A lull in the stormy weather is likely late Wednesday morning into the early afternoon, but thunderstorms could again bubble-up again during the evening.

The thunderstorm threat could last through Thursday morning. Friday looks to be a nice day, with temperatures warming up for the weekend!

Sure I would work right along with the illegals you might hire. How about you put the trailer right next to the border, that way when I decide to take a break the next illegal stepping over can take my place. But you would have to purchase all my femine products, hair products, pedicures, manicures, pay the cell phone bill we all will be using. Other than that I'm in but I still will have to talk it over with my new husband Dude and my cousin Patriot!

Is is such a blessing to be able to go online and see how things are going back home. I have been in North Carolina (our son came home from Iraq on Mothers Day). Imagine my suprise when I saw the footage of the storm damage in Bell County. Also, now I am able to plan my drive home to avoid the bad weather. Thanks, News 10, for helping me stay informed and safe on my way back to Waco.

LOL @ Dude & Tamara! You know I'm with you on this!! National Guard = Guarding National Borders. But I do thank them for all the help they give victims in the aftermath of bad storms.

Dude-I actually for one agree with you. The national Guard should be able to be an guard duty to stop unwanted guests from crossing the borders. They get one warning and that is a bullet to the back I considered that warned. I bet they get the hint stay out!!

after the storms pass, the guard needs to go to the mexican border and stop the invasion of our country. thats the reason the national guard was set up in the first place.
