(May 15, 2008)--An attorney says a book and promotional tour by the teenage bride who helped convict polygamist leader Warren Jeffs could taint the jury pool in the upcoming criminal trial of her former husband in Utah.
Elissa Wall's book, "Stolen Innocence," was released Tuesday by publisher William Morrow.
It chronicles her life, including her time with cousin Allen Steed.
Steed is charged with raping Wall during their marriage, which was arranged in 2001 by leaders of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Wall was then 14, and she says she was forced to have sex with Steed, who was then 19.
Steed's attorney, Jim Bradshaw, says Wall's conduct could compromise Steed's shot at a fair trial in Utah.
He says she may need to choose between her quest for publicity and her desire to have Steed prosecuted.
Bradshaw says a raid on the sect's West Texas compound last month further complicates the issue.
Texas officials have placed more than 460 children in state custody during an investigation of child abuse.
Bradshaw raised his concerns in a letter to Washington County, Utah, prosecutors.
Wall was the key witness in the 2007 trial that sent FLDS leader Jeffs to prison.
A hearing scheduled for Thursday in Steed's case was postponed.
