CRANFILLS GAP (February 5, 2013)—A Gatesville man died and another was critically injured early Sunday morning in a single-vehicle crash near Cranfills Gap in Bosque County.

Department of Public Safety trooper Teddy Brock said Carlos Kane Necessary, 27, died at the scene just after 2 a.m. Sunday on Farm-to-Market Road 219 about 2.4 miles east of Cranfils Gap.

Scott George Tatum, 29, was listed Tuesday in critical condition at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center, in Waco, suffering from internal injuries and broken bones, according to a DPS spokesman.

Brock said Necessary was driving a 2002 GMC pickup truck eastbound on FM 219 when he crossed the center line on the highway and over-corrected to the right.

The pick up struck a culvert and went airborne, then into a side skid and finally into a roadside ditch where it overturned.

Neither Necessary nor Tatum was wearing a seat belt.
