(May 16, 2008)—Dr. Claudia Brown tendered her resignation Friday from the Killeen City Council.
Brown was elected to the District 4 seat on the Killeen council in May 2007.
Her term doesn’t expire until May 2009.
Brown, a retired elementary school principal who works as a substitute teacher, was unopposed in the race for the District 4 seat in 2007.
The district includes the western part of the city.
The city's announcement Friday evening did not provide a reason for Brown's resignation.
Residents interested in filling the vacancy must apply in the City Attorney’s Office in Killeen by 5 p.m. Wednesday.
To qualify for the seat, residents must live in District 4, must be registered voters, must have lived in Texas for at least a year and in District 4 for at least six months.
