(May 19, 2008)—Businesses in the village of Salado went into the weekend hoping for a steady stream of commerce following the violent series of severe storms that blew through the area last week. Tourists and visitors to the small town did not disappoint.
Along Main Street, shoppers were busy making the rounds and the town seemed to be close to normal.
Shop owners say they really haven't seen a decrease in visitors in the days after the storm, even though they are still cleaning up all over the village, but given the extent of damage throughout the village, residents are pleased with the quick recovery.
Will Lowery, who operates the Inn On the Creek, was quite pleased with the recovery effort.
“Main Street looks awesome. You see a few of the piles of limbs that haven't been picked up yet, but Salado's boutique and galleries have rebounded with no problem."
While damages to structures were minimal, business owners say they are expecting to shell out tens of thousands of dollars for repairs and debris clean up.
