(May 19, 2008)--Some of the parents of the children removed from a West Texas polygamist retreat complained Monday that the custody plans are vague.

Court hearings started Monday in San Angelo to determine the fate of each of the more than 460 children removed last month from the compound near Eldorado.

Concerns have been raised that some of the children might have been abused or forced into marriages.

Church members deny the allegations.

Texas child welfare officials gave each of the youngsters in state custody the same basic plan for parents to follow and judges hearing the cases made few changes.

All of the plans call for parenting classes, vocational training for the parents and require the adults to prove they can support their children.

The parents will be required to outline their plans for earning a living and to describe for the state their living arrangements.

The plan does not require parents to renounce polygamy or guarantee that their daughters won't be married before they reach the age of consent, which is 17 in Texas.

Hey George, you didn't do your research very well. Nazi Germany was 80% Lutheran which doesn't practice polygamy or force underage marriage. The Soviet Union forced catholics to worship underground in secret. Catholics don't believe in polygamy either. And China DOES NOT have laws against having more than one child. They give incentives to people who CHOOSE to have one child. As far as muslim countries, they're not Christains so who cares?? Leave it to a dumb yankee to post stupidity!! What, there's no forums up there in NY you can post your liberal rantings??

Mr. George M from New York: I am a mother in America, and I have never felt any restraints "from the American government" discouraging me from becoming a mother. I imagine if I was 14, however, it would have been discouraged, AS IT SHOULD BE!!!

George, I don't believe that our country nor our our state has anything against motherhood. What they do have a problem with is putting a 12 year old in a arranged marriage. Maybe you would want your 12 year old daughter given to a man in his 40's and 50's but I sure don't and neither do the people of Texas. How many freaks join this type of "religion" just to have access to young girls.
