Resident’s Tip Leads To Tool-Theft Arrest Save Email Print

A | A | A

(May 21, 2008)—A resident’s tip early Wednesday morning led to an arrest in the theft of tools from a Temple auto repair shop.

An unidentified resident approached a Temple police officer around 5 a.m. Wednesday and said the tools another man was selling out of the back of a pickup truck were stolen from Curtis Auto Repair at 2815 S. General Bruce Dr.

The officer tracked down the man with the tools while other officers confirmed that the business had been the target of burglars.

Later investigators confirmed the tools had been stolen from the business.

Officers arrested Tommy Lee Sowder, 47, of Belton, who was wanted on outstanding probation revocation warrants and a warrant charging unauthorized absence from a community correctional facility.

He was in the Bell County Jail Wednesday evening.

Charges were pending in the business burglary, police said.
