Five Dead In Suicide Bombing In Israel

Five people were confirmed dead, and 21 others were hurt, after a suicide bombing Wednesday at an open-air falafel stand in central Israel.

The militant group Islamic Jihad says the attack was carried out to avenge the death of a top militant leader who was killed by Israeli troops at a refugee camp on Monday.

The attack occurred at a crowded stand in Hadera. It was the first suicide bombing in nearly two months.

An Israeli government spokesman called on the Palestinian Authority to step up its efforts to "disarm and dismantle the terror organization."
