HEWITT (February 26, 2013)—A Hewitt homeowner had to be treated for minor smoke inhalation Tuesday morning after the kitchen of a home caught fire.

The homeowner, who was not identified, was treated by EMS personnel at the scene at 707 Rosedale and taken by ambulance to a local hospital for further evaluation, Hewitt fire Lt. Cody Richardson said.

Hewitt fire units were sent at about 6:50 a.m. to the residence and the first unit on the scene reported light smoke coming from the single story brick structure.

Firefighters were able to quickly douse the blaze that Richardson said started near or in the kitchen.

The house received only minor damage and the homeowner was not displaced, Richardson said.

The cause of the blaze had not been established immediately.
