(June 2, 2008)—McLennan County sheriff’s deputies were investigating a carjacking Monday after a Waco woman reported that she had been hijacked, her car had been stolen and she had been left tied up on a local roadside.

The woman was dumped near the intersection of Selby Lane and Old Mexia Road, according to reports from the scene.

Paramedics were checking her out Monday afternoon.

Law enforcement agencies were on the lookout for the stolen car, a 1992 silver Mitsubishi Gallant, Texas license HHD-264.

The carjacking reportedly occurred either early Monday morning or Sunday night.

It’s the third in the Waco area since last month.

A Baylor coed was carjacked at gunpoint, driven around town and robbed before she escaped her abductors by jumping from the moving vehicle.

One man has been charged in that incident, but a second remains at large.

On May 21, a Waco man told police two men confronted him as he got out of his truck.

He said he threw the keys and hid behind a nearby church as the men stole the vehicle.

The next day, a 34-year-old Waco man was abducted and shot by two men who took his truck, which was later recovered.

Two people have been charged in those two incidents, but a third suspect remains at large.

Citizens should not have to move out of an area because "low-lifes" are threatening the civility and safety of the public. It should be these people who commit the crimes such as car jackings, that deserve to pay a heavy price. Their actions are equivalent to domestic terrorism. I have no sympathy for these characters. I certainly don't think they deserve public financing for a defense attorney, room and board at the prison either. Put them in a tent prison like that sheriff in Arizona does.
