(June 2, 2008)—McLennan County sheriff’s deputies were investigating a carjacking Monday after a Waco woman reported that she had been hijacked, her car had been stolen and she had been left tied up on a local roadside.

The woman was dumped near the intersection of Selby Lane and Old Mexia Road, according to reports from the scene.

Paramedics were checking her out Monday afternoon.

Law enforcement agencies were on the lookout for the stolen car, a 1992 silver Mitsubishi Gallant, Texas license HHD-264.

The carjacking reportedly occurred either early Monday morning or Sunday night.

It’s the third in the Waco area since last month.

A Baylor coed was carjacked at gunpoint, driven around town and robbed before she escaped her abductors by jumping from the moving vehicle.

One man has been charged in that incident, but a second remains at large.

On May 21, a Waco man told police two men confronted him as he got out of his truck.

He said he threw the keys and hid behind a nearby church as the men stole the vehicle.

The next day, a 34-year-old Waco man was abducted and shot by two men who took his truck, which was later recovered.

Two people have been charged in those two incidents, but a third suspect remains at large.

Citizens should not have to move out of an area because "low-lifes" are threatening the civility and safety of the public. It should be these people who commit the crimes such as car jackings, that deserve to pay a heavy price. Their actions are equivalent to domestic terrorism. I have no sympathy for these characters. I certainly don't think they deserve public financing for a defense attorney, room and board at the prison either. Put them in a tent prison like that sheriff in Arizona does.

This just shows that most people go through life not paying attention to their surroundings. If you are aware of the area around you and paying attention no one can get in your car with out you knowing it in adavance. Check your mirrors, leave some distance between you and the vehicle in front of you to allow an escape path. And the biggest thing is lock your doors. And if all that fails just shoot 'em!

Go check out other cities and just see how bad their crime is compared to ours, oh and move there also and see if you complain there....

ok people, its time to arm yourself and use it when you need to. if you run from a bully you will run for the rest of your life, if you stand up to him he will not bother you any more. standing up in todays world means killing them, sad to say but its coming to that.

ok if Waco is soo horrible then move! Or better yet, do something to improve the city. But please stop using these violent crimes as excuses to gripe. Crime is everywhere, not just in Waco, TX

WACO is ANY TOWN, U.S.A. WACO is home to one of the most prestigious universities in the United States - - Baylor University. WACO is home to McLennan Community College. WACO is a center of learning for children of the future. Folks are friendly. Generations of families have been raised in WACO. WACO has a very good police department with good men and women who protect and serve. A city cannot be judged by the few low lifes who steal and rob and kill at random. ALL CITIES HAVE THEIR SHARE OF CRIMINAL ACTIVITY.

I say we find a long rope and hang 'em! For the rest to see...

Enough will be enough when penalties are harsher for crime. Criminals now are simply being slapped on the wrist and released back into society to do again and again. Unfortunately, no town (incuding Waco) is immune to drugs, murders and robberies. No matter where you go, border to border or coast to coast, these are problems that plague the entire U.S. You can stay in Waco and hate it or move to another town and hate it too. Your choice! I'm not defending Waco. I'm simply reminding you that you have a choice because of our armed forces that fight for our FREEDOM everyday.
