(June 3, 2008)—Falls County volunteer firefighter Eric Nutt, 25, was free on bond Tuesday after he was arrested and charged with arson and making a false report or alarm, the Falls County Sheriff’s Office said.

Nutt was arrested on May 8, the sheriff’s office said.

The arson charge stems from a fire in a vacant structure on March 19 on County Road 2877 just south of Marlin.

The fire was intentionally set, the sheriff’s office said.

The false report charge stems from an incident on March 7 in which a 911 caller reported a grass fire on County Road 226.

Firefighters were dispatched, but there was no fire, the sheriff’s office said.

Nutt’s arrest comes after an investigation of “numerous vacant structure fires and several unfounded reports of fires in the Marlin area,” the sheriff’s office said.

Fred- You really wonder why the Falls Co Sheriffs Department is not cooperating and pressure was put on the J.P.??? Maybe its because the Chief Deputy of Falls County and Nutt are related!

Posted by: citizen Location: texas on Jun 5, 2008 at 08:05 AM
fred, its because the sheriff is is not a good person. i know this for a fact. when judge sehon left there were no more descent officials left in marlin, get out of marlin while you can, i did.

The story about Groesbeck shouldn't even have been shown. The two men who want the information on the settlement regarding the rock crusher and the Navasota River aren't even citizens of Groesbeck. They both live outside the city and never lived in Groesbeck. They just want Groesbeck to fight the battle for them and protect their property.Groesbeck's citizens actually feel that our city council is doing what is best for our community. If they wanted to know what was going on Limestone County should join the city and help pay some of the legal bills and they would know. They have millions of dollars in reserve and yet they want the city of Groesbeck to refund their building permit fee for their new county fair facility and they even made the school district BUY BACK the old show barn and property the school had donated to the county for the county youth show. When a judge says a settlement must not be disclosed he means it. Judge Burkeen would feel that way if he made such a ruling.

does anyone but me wonder why the falls county sheriffs department tried to force a j.p. to let this guy out on a p.r. bond, or why they will not cooperate with the state fire marshell who has physical evidence related to this case?

last name NUTT: You say "this all got in the news cause people can't mind their own business." Wrong. This got in the news because it is an event that is out of the ordinary, and it is an event that has an impact on the public. And because it was caused by someone who should/would not be expected to do something like this. It isn't the public's fault that he did this. It's his fault. Yeah, everybody makes mistakes. This wasn't a mistake. This was deliberate. Stop justifying him.

Sometimes you feel like a NUTT sometimes you don't. Sorry I just had too!

This looks a lot like he was creating calls to respond to. I can honestly say as a firefighter of ten years, this does embarass firefighters when this sort of thing happens.

Yes, another Firefighter messing up and not a Police Officer. I believe it is now Firefighters 2--Police 2,698,254. Ok, another bad joke,, but I had to.

Ok...I gotta weigh in here. True enough "Let him without sin cast the first stone"...BUT...this moron didn't just light a teeny tiny firecracker in his life, he set off a WMD, for the love of Pete!!! Within 10 seconds I can run out of fingers and toes in counting my screw-ups, however, absolutely NONE of them put anyone else in harm's way due to my being a self-centered Nutt. Pardon me while I vote...*checks the box next to his name to nomitate him as the village idiot*

proud of the last name. as far as last names you must all be ashamed of yours cause i only see one person who posted theirs. this all got in the news cause people can't mind their own business. their the real losers. everybody makes mistakes and deserves a second chance. everyone who has posted a comment has made some kind of mistake in their life and if you say you haven't i'll be the first to call you a liar to your face. as far as corruption in marlin you have that everywhere, not just here. look at troy, mcgregor, waco just to name a few. don't like marlin then keep your butt out and you won't have to worry bout it.

Posted by: citizens Location: falls county on Jun 3, 2008 at 03:17 PM
Theres no one thats perfect, we all have made some mistake in our daily lives. You pray about them and you move on...God will make a way out of no way.. People make there choices in life and they are slowly resolved and there life changes... You cannot judge a book by it's cover untill you open it and read it...

I've been a firefighter for 26 years. This jerk gives every firefighter in the nation a black eye. Hope they throw the book at him.
