(May 4, 2008)—A Nacogdoches High School girl’s basketball coach has been arrested on a charge of having an improper relationship with a student.

Nacogdoches Independent School District Police say 33-year-old Dayna Crenshaw is accused of having a sexual relationship with an 18-year-old female student.

She has been placed on administrative leave.

Crenshaw was released on bond Tuesday afternoon.

Her attorney, Tim James, said they "intend to vigorously contest these allegations."

School district police say they were contacted April 25 about allegations saying a student had been involved in a sexual relationship with a teacher.

According to an affidavit for a search warrant, Crenshaw and the student had a sexual relationship between December 2007 and March.

To Me Location: here on Jun 10, 2008 at 03:43 PM--- WHAT A MORON YOU ARE! Anyone can post as "Me Here" ... get yourself a real name! And a LIFE TOO! hahahaha

Me here on June 6 2008 at 0917 is fake. I am the real Me here and from this moment on, I have changed to something else so if you see Me here, remember it fake. Fakaroney like a tinfoil pony! Later taters. P.S. Leave people alone. Gay or straight, black, white, fat, thin, christian, hindu. Stop it. Genius and jerks come in every color, creed, and sexual orientation.

who knows ... maybe the student was offended that the teacher refused her advances and decided to take revenge! I would think that a teacher who is going to "vehemently contest" the issue has something to say ... it will be interesting!

Anonymous, you just showed how hypocritical you are...."Being gay is not a choice; it is how you are born (for the most part..there will always be people trying new things just for the thrill of being different)".. HUH? You need to get over your ignorance and understand that there will always be people who believe you "choose" your lifestyle and that it is a sinful lifestyle..ei.. the majority voters who voted NO to gay marriage in California while the supreme court looked the other way at all those votes. Whether you are straight, bi or homosexual, everyone ...repeat EVERYONE tries to shove their beliefs on other people. That's life and it doesn't matter what decade it is!

A kid makes an accusation and everyone goes nuts. Did you ever stop to think that is the reaction the kid wanted? Take a breath and wait until THE EVIDENCE is presented and all of the facts are known.

Ok - another controversy. Straight/gay, right-way/left wing, right/wrong. It's great that we can voice our opinion and beliefs. It's sad when you feel you have to slam someone and call them names and label them for their beliefs. Suzieb was stating her opinion and she personally gets ganged up on. She didn't state a person's name, just her thoughts about the situation and her beliefs. My experience is that for the past 20 yrs it's been the "left-wing" liberals who have become militant and extremely rude. Whatever happened to allowing someone to believe differently w/o belittling them and calling them names? We all have a right to our beliefs. We have to exist together and it would be nicer for everyone to have citizens who, though not accepting what the other person says, is not rude and singling out individuals in their comments. Just because you think the other person is an idiot, it doesn't mean you have to voice it. But then, there will always be militants and idiots!

Teachers should know better than this! The teacher in question should be prepared to accept the consequences of her actions. There should be no room for teachers who take advantage of kids!

Posted by: homeschooler Location: temple on Jun 6, 2008 at 07:04 AM
Don't knock the homeschoolers, their kids will probably be 100x smarter than yours. Colleges actually prefer homeschooled kids now because the level of education they get at home FAR outweighs what they learn in school, but I do support all the teachers. Homeschoolers MUST find ways to expose their children to interaction with others. Sports, for example. Just because you homeschool doesn't mean your kids are gonna be right wing radicals, but you can bet they probably won't be left wing gays. I agree that the world sees evil as good on some levels. But clearly most people don't even attempt to follow anything in the Bible though they claim to be Christians. Wonder what God will have to say about that on judgment day? I'd hate to be them because I don't tihnk it'll be good. He burned towns citing "lust of men for other men" as one of the reasons. Adam & Eve, not Adam & Steve. But that's just my opinion, everyone else is entitled to theirs.

Being gay is not a choice; it is how you are born (for the most part..there will always be people trying new things just for the thrill of being different). A teacher is in a place of authority; it doesn't matter who initiated..she should have stopped it and she should be punished for her lack of judgement. As for gays recruiting...I've seen you and I wouldn't want you..get over yourself. Statistics state most molesters are straight; most abuse happens at home by a family member or a friend; look around your own house before wanting to look behind others bedroom doors. Be careful...your ignorance and total lack of understanding is showing.

in case people haven't noticed, gay people do exist everywhere and are not trying to "convert" young people this girl was probly already gay and she is 18. yeah in school isn't appropriate and no im not gay but it's ridiculous to think kids are converted or it's their parents fault. It's a choice, get over it homophobes, this is 2008 not the mid 90's! "let he who is without sin cast the first stone" Hypocrits. How can you judge and be prejudice if your a so called "christian" .

Posted by: It happens on Jun 5, 2008 at 05:33 PM
MadMax, This happened back in the mid 90's. But in this economy I might take the money and clothes too but gay guy expected favors in return ...if you know what I mean ;o)

Posted by: Madmax Location: Killeen on Jun 5, 2008 at 04:40 PM
Dang, I'm straight, but I'd take advantage of the clothes offer or even ask him to give me a fuel card..Ya, that would work.

Next thing you know, someone will say that gayness is being spread by illegal aliens!!! Wait a minute... (If you can read this, you may or may not be gay!)

Posted by: Jess on Jun 5, 2008 at 03:21 PM
Really? You're shocked that there are gays and lesbians in our schools... WAKE UP PEOPLE!!! it's 2008! Come on now

Posted by: What?? Location: Waco on Jun 5, 2008 at 02:59 PM
Have any of you given thought to what you've typed? Gays, Lesbians, Straights... Who cares? I understand that homosexuality is against many religious beliefs, but isn't casting judgement on others a sin as well? The main thing that should be considered here is this, We all choose to live in America, where we each have the right to make our own decisions, and an obligation to follows the laws set for us by our forefathers. The law says that ALL teacher / student relationships are forbidden. Yes the girl is 18, but a student still. The teacher and the student both knew that what they were doing was illegal, so now the law will be enforced, as they knew it could be. And as it should be. If ever you were a victim of child sexual abuse, as I am, or if you had a child that you loved that was a victim of sexual abuse, you too would support the enforcement of any and all laws that are in place to protect our children. And since the subject is 18, she too should be disciplined as well.

Posted by: It happens Location: texas on Jun 5, 2008 at 02:50 PM
Well, you can't tell me that gays don't try to recruit the young into their society. I've seen it with my own eyes at work.... a 38 yr old gay guy chasing after this young straight guy. First by giving him alot of money and clothes. Then trying to get him to dump his little girlfriend. He took advantage of the young man who was in desperate need of money. Both were under my authority. When the advances became too much and distrupted both their work. I stepped in and gave a firm warning to the gay guy and had a long talk with the young man.

A WONDERFUL ending to what could have been a CASTASTROPHIC outcome!!! You don't have to be a famous person to be a hero. Heroes come in all sizes, shapes and forms! Kudos to the couple!!

I was already married with my first child at the age of 18. Also, my daughter in Iraq, took care of our wounded soldiers who were 18 and 19 years old. So, I am in agreement about 18 being mature. In this situation, I was just wondering, "who told"?

Posted by: thisguy on Jun 5, 2008 at 12:45 PM
to cletus and susiebw...yall are both morons plain and simple...gay ppl dont convert your children...you do...you need to be tarred and feathered for such a dumb comment...and what if the girl was the one who was making the pass at the teacher?...as a student teacher, i've had students who were 18 ask me to join them on outtings and such so its not just the teacher...regardless of them gay or straight, things like this do happen and if you wanna judge ppl, you better make sure that you aren't doing things that can be judged in wrong ways because i know these ppl aren't enjoying the judgments they are receiving now...

Posted by: cletus on Jun 5, 2008 at 12:28 PM
im with susiebw, these homosexuals are converting our young children into godless deviant pedophiles. this woman needs to be tared and feathered. i fear it may be too late for the young women who was molested. god have mercy on her soul.

No M from Killeen I dont think susiebw is sick it's true thats why all of these boys are growing up to be sissys and girls are all twisted trying to men we are killing off our own stright human race because of you all excepting your children to be gay you better beat them now and let the know who there sopposed to be.....

Posted by: Worldly Location: Waco on Jun 5, 2008 at 11:51 AM
Dave, you and Michelle need to get together and raise a brood of right wing radicals.

Posted by: M Location: Killeen on Jun 5, 2008 at 11:07 AM
susiebw you are one sick, narrow-minded chick

Posted by: hello people Location: here on Jun 5, 2008 at 08:35 AM
it should not matter that the teacher is gay, plenty of straight teachers have taken advantage of students. the point is that it is an EDUCATOR taking advantage of a STUDENT. they know its wrong but some do it anyways.

Posted by: T on Jun 5, 2008 at 07:47 AM
Now don't our parents tell us that when we are 18 and graduated that we have to make our own decisions, we'll there you have it!

Posted by: Dee Location: TX on Jun 5, 2008 at 02:31 AM
This is ridiculous. The girl is 18. How old do they have to be before they can make their own decisions--85? Susiebw, what planet did you come from? Straight people shouldn't be allowed to teach either since they acost students almost all the time. You are born either gay, straight, or somewhere in between. All straight people should stop having babies because they don't reproduce normally.

Posted by: Dave Location: Waco on Jun 5, 2008 at 12:44 AM
If the homeschooler's children have problems handling the real world, it will only be because they will see evil as evil, while the world calls evil "good"

Posted by: Educator Location: Waco on Jun 4, 2008 at 09:46 PM
In school, a teacher-student relationship is against the law; however, once the student is 18 and not within the school (as in graduated or dropped- out-quit school)--and no longer considered a student, this relationship would be perfectly legal. Until then, it is violating the law. That law is to protect studnents from being forced into a relationship or situation forced on them by an authority figure. The teacher is considered the adult in this situation and the student is considered a child/student no matter their age.

Posted by: Ashley Location: Waco on Jun 4, 2008 at 08:52 PM
I'm confused. What's the big deal??? They are both adults and in no part of this report does it say the teacher forced herself on the student. So, why is she in jail? I think people just seem to have a problem with this because they happen to be gay. And, yes, susiebw, get real. Being gay does not mean that you "recruit" new members. That has got to be the most idiotic comment I have seen yet. It might be about time for you to come into the real world and quit acting like people who are different than you are aliens. Gimmie a freaking break!

Posted by: mbd on Jun 4, 2008 at 06:16 PM
Come on, folks...everyone here is ASSUMING that this relationship really happened. Students DO get ideas in their heads to "get" certain teachers, and what better way to ruin a teacher? I don't know whether it happened or not, but I do know that students CLAIM things about teachers many, many times just to ruin the teacher's reputation. I've seen it happen. Some teenage girl/boy doesn't get to play on the varsity team, so they concoct some story to get the attention of administration, parents, media, and public, and what does that do? It creates a reputation for the accused that he/she can't overcome. Even if the teacher is NOT guilty, the teacher usually ends up resigning or going somewhere else. Hence, the child wins! Besides, what repercussions will a student have in that instance? Very little repercussions, IF any at all!!! I know there are some "bad" teachers out there, but there are many more good than bad!!!

Posted by: Annoyed with ignorance Location: Killeen on Jun 4, 2008 at 06:00 PM
This is just a side note but when I was 18 I had a 30 something police officer who I will not name follow me and pull me over just to talk to me and try to date me. Which never happened, but how is that any different? It is legal for him to pursue me and he is in a position of power over me. Just like the teacher is over this girl. It really should be legal for them to date. I mean if I compare it to the officer It really isn't all that much different. And the fact they are gay is NOT the point. I can't believe people even care about that anymore. Gay people are not going anywhere. Only stupid people let things other people do that dosen't hurt anmyone bother them so much. SusieBW always has a ignorant opinion on everything, you will have to excuse her Supergirl. She knows not what she speaks of.

Posted by: Get Real Location: Killeen on Jun 4, 2008 at 05:52 PM
to susiebw .... are you serious??? maybe we shouldn't let straight teachers teach either, after all they commit these acts more often than a gay/lesbian teacher!

Posted by: Supergirl Location: Robinson on Jun 4, 2008 at 04:22 PM
susiebw - give me a break. Being gay is not something you sign up for. Jeebus.

Posted by: Kim Location: Temple on Jun 4, 2008 at 03:41 PM
Oh my gosh. An 18 year old making her own decisions. Somebody get the whip!! LOL While I agree that teachers and students at the same school shouldn't be involved, this girl is an adult for crying out loud. I'm sure that teacher didn't twist her arm. I also have nothing against people making their OWN CHOICES in their love lives. That is their business. I bet they don't think it's SICK!!!

Posted by: Waco News Watcher Location: Waco on Jun 4, 2008 at 02:51 PM
That's right Michelle. Keep your children at home and sheltered. Maybe when they are twenty-five or thirty, you can let them out of the house for them to attend college. Hopefully they hadn't been too sheltered so they will be able to handle worldly situations.

Posted by: thisguy on Jun 4, 2008 at 02:34 PM
whatever floats their boat haha

Posted by: Educator Location: Waco on Jun 4, 2008 at 02:32 PM
It is against the law to perform "lewd acts"---a term that encompasses many actions--toward or on a student -even if that student is 18, as he or she are considered a "captive audience" who must submit to an authority figure. Sadly, many adults are capable of moral turpitude with children. The news is full of them, both men and women. Constant vigilance has to be the order of the day to protect our children. In school, behavior falls under the law, no matter how old the student is.

Posted by: Fran Location: W. Texas on Jun 4, 2008 at 02:04 PM
This is just like the case in Early, TX, where Joy Blackstock had a relationship with an 18 male student. Yes, they are of legal age, but Texas law prohibits a relationship between a teacher and student at the same school. What freaks me out is FEMALE teacher and FEMALE student! SICK!!!

Posted by: Tamara Location: Waco on Jun 4, 2008 at 01:45 PM
Well, I don't think this is so bad the girl was 18 basically an adult. Had she been underage or assaulted by the teacher then I would be singing a different song. At 18 even if the teacher went to jail the female student will probably still be with her, visit her in jail, write each other...if that's what they both want let them be together.

Posted by: susiebw Location: kempner on Jun 4, 2008 at 01:44 PM
Sick hussy! That is why we should NEVER let gays teach. They are NOT harmless. They do not reproduce normally so kids are where they get new "members"

Posted by: bj Location: waco on Jun 4, 2008 at 11:29 AM
yep you read it right! well the child is 18 so that means the shes graduating and shes old enough to make her choices! the teacher should have thought about that because she is the professional one but this stuff happens and they are both grown!

Posted by: Anonymous on Jun 4, 2008 at 11:11 AM
Did I read this correctly? Female Teacher and Female student???
