Texas death row inmate Charles Victor Thompson, 35, won’t fight his return to Texas.

Thompson walked out of the Harris County Jail on Thursday after changing into street clothes.

Thompson waived extradition Monday during a hearing in Shreveport, La., where he was captured while talking on a pay phone Sunday night outside a liquor store.

Officers said Thompson told them he hopped a train to Shreveport after he escaped.

He’ll be returned to Texas as soon as the paperwork is completed.

Thompson faces execution for the 1998 shooting deaths of his ex-girlfriend Dennise Hayslip and her new boyfriend, Darren Keith Cain.

Thompson's first death sentence was overturned, but a jury in Houston in late October re-sentenced him to execution.

Thompson was awaiting transfer back to the prison system when he escaped Thursday.

Thompson is now charged with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.
