Forty years ago, on June 5, 1968, Robert Kennedy was gunned down in a kitchen passageway of the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles, Calif. Just moments before he had addressed supporters in the early morning hours after winning a major victory in the California primary. Sirhan Sirhan, a 24-year-old Palestinian was quickly subdued after shooting Kennedy in the head with a .22 caliber revolver. Kennedy was rushed to Good Samaritan Hospital, where he died the next day.
His brother, Edward Kennedy, eulogized him as a good and decent man, who saw wrong and tried to right it, saw suffering and tried to heal it, saw war and tried to stop it." Kennedy was buried near his brother John in Arlington National Cemetery.
