(June 12, 2008)—The Waco Family Abuse Center announced Thursday it has named Becky Ellison as its new executive director.

Ellison is a 1986 graduate of Baylor University who completed her Master’s Degree in 2008.

She served as associate director of the Christian Women’s Job Corp from 2004 to 2008.

“Over the past four years, I have had the privilege of working with women who have experienced restoration of their hearts and families,” Ellison said.

“ I have also been blessed by women in the Waco community who have volunteered their time and hearts to serve as mentors and teachers. It is my desire that women and children who have experienced the devastating effects of domestic violence will experience healing and restoration at Family Abuse Center.”

The center, which has served McLennan County and six surrounding counties for 25 years, is a 65-bed facility with a staff of full-time counselors and social workers.

The center also staffs a 24-hour crisis hotline and shelter.
