TEMPLE (April 4, 2013)—Two women and a man were held Thursday in the Bell County Jail after their arrest in connection with a home invasion robbery.

Devonte Tyrell Taplin, 19, Laydine Kinsasha McNeil, 20, and Andrea Denise Acosta, 19, all of Temple, were listed Thursday on the Bell County Jail log awaiting formal charges and bonds.

Temple police Cpl. Christopher Wilcox said officers were sent at about 9:40 p.m. Wednesday to a home in the 700 block of Calhoun Ave., after a caller reported a burglary in progress.

Officers met with the victims who reported about 10 minutes earlier a woman had come to the door and asked to use the telephone.

As one of the residents stepped outside to allow the woman to use his phone, an armed man approached and forced the victim back inside the house.

The victim who was outside was able to flee but there was at least one more person inside.

Both suspects went inside and once there took money and property from the victims who were inside.

The victim that had escaped was able to follow the suspects and provided officers with descriptions of both the suspects and their vehicle and told police where the suspects had gone.

Wilcox said the victim told officers the male suspect sat on the window of the get away car and pointed the gun at the victim as he followed them.

The victim eventually lost the suspect vehicle but was able to obtain a partial license plate and provide it to officers.

Other officers who were called to the scene were able to find the unoccupied suspect vehicle in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 2400 block of S. 13th Street.

When police went to the registered vehicle owner's apartment, they located three suspects.

The victim later identified two of the three suspects as the two who broke into his home.

Police later determined the third suspect was the get away driver.

All three suspects were arrested at the second address and once they were at the Bell County Jail, officers located property taken during the robbery concealed on one of the suspects.

Wilcox said the investigation continues and complaints against the three suspects have been forwarded to the Bell County District Attorney’s office for formal charges.
