The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department plans to stock the fishing pond at Waco’s Buena Vista Park with rainbow trout Thursday as part of the department’s urban fishing initiative.

The pond will be stocked every two weeks through March.

Each time the pond will be filled with 1,500 large rainbow trout that average 12 inches in length.

Fishing at the park is free, but anyone older than 16 must have a fishing license with a fresh water stamp.

The Waco Parks and Recreation Department will host a “Trout-a-polooza” from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Jan. 21 at the park.
