(June 18, 2008)--A teenager remained in custody Wednesday, charged with murder in the death of a Harlingen High School South teacher whose body was found in his apartment.

John Farr, 49, was found dead Monday afternoon, police said.

Police declined to release the cause of death or a possible motive.

Police spokesman David Osborne told the Valley Morning Star officers went to Farr's apartment after getting a call from the complex management.

The teenager was arrested late Monday.

Osborne said the boy attended Harlingen High School South, but it wasn't clear if he had been in one of Farr's classes.

Police declined to release the boy's age, but Osborne said he's between 14 and 16.

The boy was taken to the Darrell Hester Juvenile Justice Center in San Benito.

to former student: if you suspected something was going on did you report it? If not why? Just curious as i often see a lot of posts from people hinting at things they knew about before hand i.e. "When I was his student, he was always inviting boys over to his apartment - never any girls - and NEVER in groups - always one poor boy at a time!" It just seems that if THEY had done something, people could have been saved from being hurt!

Look into why Mr. Farr was "asked" to leave McAllen High School. When I was his student, he was always inviting boys over to his apartment - never any girls - and NEVER in groups - always one poor boy at a time. Someone needs to find out what that boy was doing in his apartment to begin with, and I'm pretty sure it was not to steal his laptop or car. I feel sorry for Mr. Farr's family - how embarrassing and dreadful for them to have this come out with such a tragedy.

The police are being pretty mum about the who le thing, but the dad is already yelling self defense...even though the kid stole his car and laptop.

Where was the boys parents? If it was late at night than why wasn't the boy at home where he needed to be? the parents should be in trouble if this happened at night for not watching their child.

Was there something going on? Did the teacher flunk him in a class...discipline him for an infraction of the rules??? Need more info! But, Murders are getting to be rampant with teenagers....or is it that we hear about them more...with all the news coverage???
