WACO (April 22, 2013)—A Waco man was being held Monday in the McLennan County Jail after he was arrested on a robbery charge in connection with a sandwich heist.

Antonio Singleton, 20, was ordered held on a $30,000 bond charged with robbery, jail records show.

Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday a man walked into the Subway Sandwich Shop, at 5530 Bosque Blvd., and ordered a sandwich.

But when the order was filled, the man offered to pay only a small portion of the cost of the meal.

When a worker at Subway demanded the rest of the bill, the man refused to pay and walked out of the shop.

The employee followed him and once outside a scuffle broke out between the two and the employee was injured.

The man fled on foot.

Officers who went to the scene soon were able to find the suspect in the parking lot at a nearby Target store and arrest him.

Swanton said the sandwich shop employee received only minor injuries.
