(June 19, 2008)—Former Baylor University senior Christa Licole Dill, 21, who had planned to graduate in August with a degree in child development, was sentenced to two years in prison and fined $10,000 Thursday after pleading guilty to a child abuses charge in an incident involving her godson.
Dill pleaded guilty to injury to a child Wednesday, but decided to have a jury decide punishment.
She was seeking probation, but could have been sentenced to as much as 10 years in prison.
The complaint stemmed from an incident on Nov. 16, 2007 in which she was accused of beating her 2-year-old godson with a belt and with her fist.
CPS said the child suffered no broken bones, but said the beating was as bad as it has seen.
