Former Baylor Child Development Major Sentenced In Child Abuse Case Save Email Print

A | A | A

(June 19, 2008)—Former Baylor University senior Christa Licole Dill, 21, who had planned to graduate in August with a degree in child development, was sentenced to two years in prison and fined $10,000 Thursday after pleading guilty to a child abuses charge in an incident involving her godson.

Dill pleaded guilty to injury to a child Wednesday, but decided to have a jury decide punishment.

She was seeking probation, but could have been sentenced to as much as 10 years in prison.

The complaint stemmed from an incident on Nov. 16, 2007 in which she was accused of beating her 2-year-old godson with a belt and with her fist.

CPS said the child suffered no broken bones, but said the beating was as bad as it has seen.

THIS WOMAN HAPPEN TO BE MY SISTER FIRST AND FORMOST. NOW AS WE KNOW THE NEWS IS ALWAYS MAKING STORIES WORST THAN WHAT THEY ARE. SECONDLY YOU CANT JUDGE CHRISTA UNTIL YOU KNOW HER WHICH NONE AND I REPEAT NONE OF YOU DO. THE BABY INVOLVED IS MY NEPHEW AND HAS NOT BEEN ABUSED HE WAS AND STILL IS WELL TAKEN CARE OF THIS JUST GOES TO SHOW HOW HELPING SOMEONE OUT CAN MESS UP YOUR LIFE. NO ONE NEEDS TO BE GIVEN THE WHOLE STORY NOR RESON FOR WHAT SHE DID HOW A SPANKING CAN GO TO TWO YEARS IN JAIL. AND IF YOU DONT WHOOP YOUR KIDS (PEOPLE WHO ARE LEAVING COMMENTS) THATS PROB THE REASON THEY ARE RUNNING OVER YOU. LASTLY CHRISTA DOESNT NEED TO RETAKE NOR CHANGE HER MAJOR FOR YOU SMART PEOPLE OUT THERE GET A LIFE AND STOP JUGDEING OTHERS. BECAUSE UNLESS U KNOW IT OR NOT....THATS A SIN.

Would you Anonymous please explain just exactly who it is you think I went around bashing? At least I don't hide behind anonymous. My liberal teacher mouth as you call it has as much right to an opinion as you do!!!!! Lest you forget that Mr./Ms. Conservative, whoever you are!

The story at hand is that this woman has allegedly committed a crime as a private citizen and I still don't see how Baylor is at fault for this issue! Do you just refuse to answer the question posed or do you not even get the question? I don't see that it is liberal to want to know why an institution should be held responsible for what a private citizen did. I don't know what you think a liberal is; I just prefer to think that I have a brain which I use!!

Here we go again. Rachel opening her liberal teacher mouth, bashing others instead of focusing on the story at hand. I guess she thinks this behavior is okay.

Sentence was too light!!!! Just a slap on the wrist to her, and a slap in the face to that poor child.

I think we need to take her out behind the barn and give her a taste of her own medicine. Pick on someone your own size....She will have time to think about what she done now..Keep her there....

Aren't you glad she wasn't your child's teacher? Glad we have fingerprinting to find the loose cannons in our schools and hope she gets what is coming to her. She looks mean.

Just because someone is in college does not make them a good person.Fools in the state pen get a college degree all the time, now she can get some time to finish her degree. Heck of a degree plan!

And she wants to work in child development, and almost has her degree. Give Me2 a Break! How bizarre!

Anonymous, would you please explain how Baylor is RESPONSIBLE for this girl's actions? I am no Baylor fan myself, but I would like to know why Baylor should get the blame for this?

Posted by: anonymous Location: tx on Jun 20, 2008 at 04:47 AM
way to go Baylor another roguish hoodlum alumni

How in the world did this woman get custody of this child? How many others saw the abuse this baby suffered and did nothing? Thank God that at least one person did because eventually this young child would have died from more beatings. This woman must never be allowed to give birth to any child. She must never be allowed around children at all.

OMG!!! I guess sometimes an education just doesn't matter. Can't say she didn't know what she was doing!! Some people are just plain stupid no matter what!
