HOLLAND (May 6, 2013)—A Fort Hood soldier died and a woman was injured Saturday afternoon when their motorcycles collided on a rural highway in Bell County.

Bell County Justice of the Peace David Barfield pronounced Jameel Hakeem Barron, 20, of Killeen, dead at the scene Saturday afternoon, a report from the Department of Public Safety said.

The DPS trooper also reported Stephanie Paige Young, 24, of Killeen, was taken by ambulance to Scott and White Hospital, in Temple, where Monday she was listed in critical condition in ICU suffering from several broken bones and other injuries.

The trooper reported at about 4:30 p.m. Saturday the pair were riding separate motorcycles eastbound along Farm-to-Market road 2268 when both crossed over the center line in a curve and collided.

Both cyclists were wearing helmets, the trooper’s report said.
