FREESTONE COUNTY (May 17, 2013)—A Houston woman died and another woman and her children were injured in a Thursday afternoon crash on Interstate 45 near Fairfield.

Department of Public Safety trooper Jeremiah Patrick, of Freestone County, said at about 4 p.m. Thursday a 2005 Ford F-150 pick up truck was driving northbound on Interstate 45 about 4 miles south of Fairfield when the driver lost control, left the roadway and overturned.

McLennan County Justice of the Peace Christi DeCluitt pronounced Shirley Miller, 45, of Houston, dead at about 8:30 p.m. at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center, where she was taken after the crash.

The driver of the pick up, Samantha Costello, 23, of Katy, suffered what Trooper Patrick called serious injuries and also was taken to Hillcrest.

Her children, Daisy Costello, 8, and Matty Costello, 3, of Houston, both were taken to Hillcrest and were said to be in good condition Friday morning.

Samantha Costello was wearing a seat belt, Patrick said, the others were not.
