Wednesday was the deadliest day in Iraq since last month's parliamentary elections.
Violence has killed at least 52 people.
A suicide bomb attack killed at least 32 people at a funeral north of Baghdad, and a car bombing that killed seven in the capital.
The violence comes amid reported progress toward forming a new government.
The three major political parties are said to be nearing agreement on a coalition that would include Sunnis as well as Shiites and Kurds.
