BELTON (July 15, 2013)--Jury selection is set for Monday in the murder trial for Samuel Edward Baker, 45, who 22 years after a Belton woman's death is facing a charge in her murder.
Shellie Latham, then 74, was found Sept. 10, 1989, brutally stabbed to death in the kitchen of her Belton home at 421 E. Ave. M.
The case went unsolved for more than two decades but on Aug. 11, 2012, U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force members arrested Baker in Buda.
He has been held in the Bell County Jail in lieu of $125,000 bond since his arrest.
Police say Baker was one of the original suspects in the case.
