Prosecutors Thursday subpoenaed records of a contribution to a group linked to Texas Congressman Tom DeLay and lobbyist Jack Abramoff.
Prosecutor Ronnie Earle in Austin wants records of a $500,000 contribution made by the National Republican Congressional Committee to the U.S. Family Network.
The network has since disbanded.
The Washington Post recently reported that donations to the nonprofit came from Abramoff, who this week pleaded guilty to fraud, corruption and tax evasion charges.
Abramoff has pledged to assist the feds in a congressional corruption investigation.
DeLay has denied that donations to U.S. Family Network influenced his legislative agenda.
An NRCC spokesman wasn't immediately available for comment.
DeLay faces trial in Austin on campaign money laundering charges in connection with what prosecutors say was a scheme to funnel corporate donations to statehouse candidates in 2002.
The Republican from Sugar Land says he's innocent.
