A wind advisory was in effect for the western two-thirds of North Texas through 7 p.m. Sunday and a Red Flag Warning for wildfires remains in effect for a portion of Central Texas through Monday evening.
The wildfire warning is in effect along and northwest of a line from Temple to Waco to Canton.
Forecasters said south to southwest winds of as much as 30 miles per hour with gusts of up to 40 miles per hour are expected.
Those will combine with low humidities and dry fuels to increase the fire danger to critical levels, forecasters said.
Rain enters the forecast on Monday, but precipitation chances are slight.
There’s about a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Monday and Monday night.
Cooler temperatures are expected Tuesday.
