LOMETA (August 21, 2013)—A Lampasas County dump truck driver was killed, and a second county driver and another man were injured Tuesday afternoon in a three-vehicle crash north of Lampasas.
A Department of Public Safety trooper said George William Reed, 68, of Lometa died at the scene of the crash on U.S. Highway 183 just south of Lampasas County Road 2060, near Lometa.
Bryan Barley, 31, of Kempner and Jaffrey Walton, 25, of League City, both were injured.
A DPS spokesman said one of the two injured men was flown to Scott and White Hospital, in Temple, by helicopter and the other was taken there by ambulance.
Their conditions were not known Wednesday morning.
The trooper’s report said Reed was driving a Lampasas County dump truck southbound on U.S. 183 when his truck crossed the center line on the highway and crashed into a northbound Ford F-150 pick up truck, driven by Walton, that was towing a trailer.
A second northbound Lampasas County dump truck crashed into the wreckage, the trooper said.
All three drivers were wearing seat belts.
