MCLENNAN COUNTY (September 2, 2013)—Michelle Adams, 28, of Waco was seriously injured early Monday in a hit-and-run as she walked north on the Interstate 35 frontage road just south of Elm Mott, Department of Public Safety Trooper D. L. Wilson said.

A passerby discovered her body at around 7:25 a.m. Monday and called 911, Wilson said.

Adams was taken to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center where she was in critical condition late Monday afternoon.

Investigators think it is possible that Adams’ body was on the side of the road for hours before someone stopped to help, Wilson said.

According to Wilson, investigators have been going through surveillance footage from several businesses located where Adams’ body was found.

“These building are only twenty to thirty feet from the frontage road so we have some excellent footage,” Wilson said.

“We're going to see the vehicle that caused this."

Adams has two children, Wilson said, but they evidently weren't with her when she was struck.

Wilson said the children are now with their grandparents.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to call the Department of Public Safety at (254) 759-7131.
