MOODY (September 18, 2013)--A construction worker from Moody died Wednesday morning when the car he was driving slammed into a piece of construction equipment on a state highway.
A Department of Public Safety trooper's report said Abraham Camacho-Ruiz, 24, died at the scene a little before 7 a.m. on State Highway 317 near Farm-to-Market Road 2601, about 4 miles south of Moody.
Area fire department and DPS troopers were sent to the scene after a passing motorist reported a vehicle had crashed into the back of a front-end loader that was parked on the side of the highway.
The DPS trooper at the scene said the driver of the 1986 Hyundai failed to see the front-end loader.
Fire crews had to use the Jaws of Life to free Camacho-Ruiz from the wreckage but rescue personnel could not revive him.
The driver of the front-end loader was not injured.
The scene is about 4 miles south of Moody just inside the Bell County line.
