KILLEEN (September 19, 2013)--A lockdown ordered after a man with a gun was seen walking near Meadows Elementary School in Killeen was lifted at around noon Thursday.
A news release from the school district did not elaborate on the reason for the lockdown, but a spokesman later said it was ordered after a man who turned out to be a soldier in civilian clothing was walking near the school.
Once officials determined there was no threat to students, the lockdown ended.
The spokesman said the district always errs on the side of caution when it comes to protecting children.
