CORSICANA (September 24, 2013)—Sheriff’s investigators have determined that a Navarro County woman pulled the trigger in a murder-suicide in which her husband and three sons died.
Guadalupe Ronquillo-Ovalle, 33, shot her husband Israel Alvarez, and their three sons, ages 4, 8 and 10, before shooting herself in the head, the Navarro County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday.
The five died either last Thursday or early last Friday, investigators said.
A grandfather discovered the bodies of his three grandchildren, his son and daughter-in-law Sunday night at the family’s home in Rice.
Authorities recovered a rifle at the scene.
A motive has not been determined, authorities said, but the killings came less than two weeks after the father was charged with family violence.
Records show Alvarez was arrested on Sept. 11 on a misdemeanor family violence charge after he was accused of shoving his wife and taking her phone because he thought she talked to another man.
Alvarez pleaded no contest, paid a $367 fine and was released.
