Head On Collision Sunday Leaves One Dead, Four Injured Save Email Print

A | A | A

(June 29, 2008)—A head on collision Sunday afternoon just east of Heidenheimer in Bell County left one man dead and two other people seriously injured.

It happened on Highway 190 about a mile east of Heidenheimer when a Chevrolet Tahoe crossed the centerline and collided head on with an oncoming Ford Fusion, investigators said.

The driver of the Fusion, a man from Lumberton, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The four people in the Fusion were trapped in the wreckage and rescuers had to cut them out of the vehicle before they could be transported to Scott & White Hospital in Temple.

Their names and information about their conditions was not immediately available.

The accident closed down 190 for at least one mile on either side of the accident.

The highway was reopened by mid-afternoon, but traffic was moving slowly.

HE HAD A LEARNERS PERMIT AND 15 Y.O. WITHOUT A "LEGAL" DRIVER IN THE CAR WITH HIM. THAT IS ILLEGAL. AND ONLY "LEGAL" 15 Y.O. DRIVERS ARE ALLOWED SO WHEN THEY ARE TAKING CARE OF THEIR FAMILY OR GOING TO SCHOOL!!! AND I DONT THINK EXCESS SPEEDING AND CHASING TAIL IS IN EITHER CATAGORIES. SO NOW THAT YOU'VE BEEN EDUMACATED...U CAN ALL KEEP SPEAKING OF WHERE THE PARENTS WERE AND WHY THIS "CHILD" WAS "ILLEGALLY" DRIVING

Please not start playing the blame game here if you are a believer in God let's all pray for ALL involved, not just for this family or that family. God forbid if any of those that are pointing finger, if your love ones ever do something like this or did something like this how would you feel. I've had 2 person killed in my family and another seriouly hurt and he will never be the same. But to all of our suprise he forgave the person who now sits in prison and change his life forever and he is at peace.

Jeez. It's like Road Warrior out there on the roads lately. All of these maniacs driving 20-30 miles over the speed limit while texting someone on their cell phone, using their cars as rolling phone booths or acting like they are running from a tsunami. SLOW DOWN! PAY ATTENTION! My prayers go out to the family of this horrible tragedy.

I too am very sorry about the loss, and I too drive this road so very much to my in-laws. With my three little kids in the car we have also seen many people become very agressive in passing and driving fast. We try to take as many back roads as we can instead of that road. I hope that they start watching this path being traveled a little more for this such incident.

FIRST OF ALL GOD DOES NOT MAKE MISTAKES. I AM MARC'S SISTER RIGHT NOW IM GOING THROUGH THE ANGER PROCESS. PLEASE FORGIVE ME. MY EMOTIONS ARE BASED ON THE FACT THAT MY NEICES WILL NOT HAVE THEIR DADDY BE AT THEIR GRADUATION OR WALK THEM DOWN THE ISLE. WHAT WAS THIS 15 yo BOY DOING DRIVING?? I KNOW IT WONT BRING MY LITTLE GIRLS UNCLE MARCY BACK BUT ANSWERS WILL HELP OUR HEALING PROCESS. I THANK YOU EACH AND ALL WHO ASSISTED IN THIS TRAGEDY. FROM VFD, LAW INFORCEMENT, EMS, DRS, NURSES, CITIZENS, AND WHOEVER I HAVE MISSED. MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

all wrecks are bad but the next time your out driving watch the SUV and full size p/u trucks. You will see more and more of them drive agreesive pushing their way thru and around cars. We all need to get rid of the "Me first attatude "and drive more friendly.

Michael, my husband was one of the VFD that extracated your brother from the fusion. We are so sorry for your loss. Our hearts go out to you and your family. We have been praying for you all. We take these tragedies very much to heart. 190 is a very dangerous hwy, especially that particular stretch and it has seen more than it's share of bad accidents. I am so sorry about your family. Healing blessings to you all.

I live here and travel to Temple daily. I have seen people pass going the wrong way on shoulder, pass 3 cars and a semi. People go through Heidenheimer speeding all the time.

Posted by: Dave Location: Waco on Jun 29, 2008 at 08:32 PM
People are always trying to pass someone when they are not supposed to.

Please, please...KWTX, when you gather your details, can you make sure you have the correct info before you print it? Some of your facts are wrong ! Don't just rush to announce mistakes. The news are bad enough for this family. Have some respect and be proficient at your job. Sometimes I feel an eight year old is giving the information on this site.

What's going on with Hwy 190 it seems as if something tragic is happening almost every week on that stretch of highway, maybe the highway dept. needs to look into this matter. and may God bless the families of everyone involved in this tragic accident

You need to check your story. The deceased driver and passenger in the fusion were cut out of the wreckage. The tahoe only had one passanger, the driver.
