(June 29, 2008)—A head on collision Sunday afternoon just east of Heidenheimer in Bell County left one man dead and two other people seriously injured.
It happened on Highway 190 about a mile east of Heidenheimer when a Chevrolet Tahoe crossed the centerline and collided head on with an oncoming Ford Fusion, investigators said.
The driver of the Fusion, a man from Lumberton, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The four people in the Fusion were trapped in the wreckage and rescuers had to cut them out of the vehicle before they could be transported to Scott & White Hospital in Temple.
Their names and information about their conditions was not immediately available.
The accident closed down 190 for at least one mile on either side of the accident.
The highway was reopened by mid-afternoon, but traffic was moving slowly.
