(July 2, 2008)—An East Texas dialysis center closed since April following an increase in deaths and life-threatening complications, will reopen Wednesday.
The DaVita facility in Lufkin has received clearance from the state to resume operations.
A former DaVita nurse has been accused of intentionally injecting two patients with bleach.
Kimberly Clark Saenz of Pollok has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault.
Both patients survived.
A spokesman for the Department of State Health Services told The Lufkin Daily News that the facility will be monitored and will gradually build up the number of patients.
Most details of the center's deficiencies were blacked out in documents obtained by the newspaper through an open records request.
