(July 3, 2008)—A high-speed chase Thursday through Belton led to a drug seizure and the arrest of one man.
It started when two undercover Belton police officers noticed a driver who was acting strangely.
They started to follow the man’s vehicle on the south side of Belton, but at some point, the driver attempted to escape.
The man led them on a chase down several residential streets and then bailed out of his vehicle after turning onto a dead end near the Belton Cemetery.
Officers gave chase and caught up with the man a few hundred yards later.
They had to use pepper spray to subdue him, police said.
No one was injured.
A search of the man’s car turned up an unspecified quantity of drugs.
The man was taken to the Bell County Jail where he’s facing evading arrest and possession of a controlled substance charges.
Other details weren’t immediately available.
