LAMPASAS (October 28, 2013) A Lampasas teenager was recovering Monday in a Temple hospital after he accidentally shot himself in the face over the weekend.
Lampasas police Lt. Investigator Jody Cummings said in a department news release officers were sent at about 12:45 a.m. Saturday to an address in the 100 block of S. Broad Street after a caller reported a victim had been shot.
When officers arrived they found a 17-year-old who had suffered a gunshot wound to the face.
The boy was taken by ambulance to Scott and White Children’s Hospital, in Temple, where he was recovering Monday from what police called non-life threatening wounds, Cummings said.
Investigators learned a group of seven people aged 16- to 19-years-old, were gathered at the residence when one of them showed a handgun.
The victim was examining the pistol when it discharged and the bullet struck him in the face.
There was no mention in the release if anyone was arrested in connection with the incident.
