COPPERAS COVE (October 30, 2013) A Copperas Cove man who was stopped by police for having a bad headlight ended up being arrested for possession of drugs and attempted burglary.
Ashley Jackson Hughes, 29, was ordered held on bonds totaling $35,000 charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of attempted burglary of a habitation.
Copperas Cove police pulled a vehicle over on Sunday evening in the 2200 block of W. W.S. Highway 190 because it had a headlight out.
While checking the driver’s background officers learned there was a warrant for his arrest in connection with an attempted burglary that had been reported in the 2200 block of Veterans Avenue.
Then while searching the vehicle officers found what they believe was an amount of cocaine and heroin, according to an arrest affidavit.
