HILL COUNTY (December 5, 2013) An Alvarado man died Wednesday morning when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a pick up truck at a rural Hill County highway intersection.
Gerald Clyde Ranne, 80, of Alvarado, was pronounced dead at the scene a little after 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Department of Public Safety Trooper D.L. Wilson said.
The investigating trooper reported Ranne was riding a Honda tricycle-style motorcycle southbound on U.S. Highway 171 about seven miles north of Hillsboro when he attempted a U-turn on the highway at the intersection of Farm-to-Market Road 934.
A Chevrolet Tahoe, which also was southbound on 171, was not able to stop when the cycle turned in front, Wilson said.
Carol Susan Forbes, 65, of Cleburne, driver of the Tahoe, was not injured, Wilson said.
Ranne was ejected from the motorcycle and was not wearing a helmet, the report said.
