WACO (December 23, 2013) A Monday morning traffic crash involving several vehicles had traffic moving extremely slowly on South Loop 340 at U.S. Highway 77 south.
The ramp onto S. Loop 340 was closed to traffic and traffic onto U.S. 77 was creeping along.
Officers at the scene said at about 7:45 a.m. a maroon car skidded on ice on the overpass and hit a guardrail.
The driver of a white pick up truck stopped to help and that truck also was struck by a skidding pick up.
A second car smashed into the trucks and then was hit by another car and a flatbed truck that was hauling construction equipment.
Police said ice on the roadway was a contributing factor to the crash.
A passenger in one of the vehicles suffered minor injuries but no was taken to a hospital, police said.
