HARKER HEIGHTS (January 2, 2014) Police were looking for a suspect Thursday after the female clerk at a Harker Heights smoke shop was robbed at gunpoint Wednesday night.

The man for whom police are looking is white, may have blonde hair, stands between 6-foot-2 and 6-foot-4 and weighs between 250 and 300 pounds.

He was wearing a black knit cap, a black trench coat, blue jeans and a pair of sunglasses that covered his face.

He walked into the Planet X store in the 300 block of East Central Texas Expressway just after 9:30 p.m. Wednesday and made a purchase, Harker Heights police Sgt. Roosevelt Wilson said.

The clerk told officers the man said he didn't have enough money to pay for the items and left to go to his car.

When the man returned he had a handgun, which he pointed at the clerk as he began to steal items from the store, Wilson said.

The robber left the store in an unknown direction with cash and a number of other unspecified items.

The clerk was not injured, Wilson said.

Wilson said that the man may have left the store in an older model beige Chevrolet Impala or Plymouth because witnesses reported seeing a vehicle such as that in the area at the time of the robbery.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the robbery to call the Harker Heights Police Department, Criminal Investigation Division at (254) 953-5400.
