HEWITT (January 8, 2014) A man walking across Hewitt Drive Wednesday morning after a two-vehicle crash was struck by a third vehicle and suffered serious injury.
Hewitt police Chief James Devlin said at about 7:15 a.m. Wednesday two vehicles were involved in a minor traffic crash at Hewitt Drive and Warren Street.
There were three occupants on one of the cars and after the crash one of the passengers told the others he was going to walk home.
As the passenger walked across Hewitt Drive, another vehicle driven by a woman whose name was not released, struck him.
Devlin said no one was injured in the initial crash, but officers at the scene were able to determine the driver of one of the vehicles was driving under the influence of alcohol and arrested him.
The injured pedestrian was taken by ambulance to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries, Devlin said.
