FORT HOOD (January 10, 2014) A Fort Hood soldier pleaded guilty Thursday in Waco’s federal court to sexual abuse of a child younger than 16-years-old.

U.S. District Judge Walter S. Smith set sentencing for Ethan Thomas Hays, 21, for March 5, court documents showed.

Hays remained in federal custody pending his sentencing hearing.

In a complaint presented in court Thursday, an FBI agent said he interviewed Hays last October regarding an incident October 17 during which Hays admitted he had sex with a girl he knew was 14-years-old.

An accompanying document showed the investigation revealed Hays went AWOL and traveled to Illinois to pick up a girl he had met online.

Hays told investigators he brought the girl back to Fort Hood and for several days beginning October 17, had sex with her in his barracks room on Fort Hood.

The agent said investigation revealed the girl was hidden in a closet in Hays’ barracks room and later was found there.
