ROBINSON (February 4 2014) A seriously injured teenager who found lying in a highway median under the flyover bridge onto northbound Interstate 35 near Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center is a Baylor University student.

Police identified the victim as Blake William Nelson, 19, of Houston.

Baylor spokeswoman Lori Fogelman confirmed Tuesday that Nelson is enrolled as a freshman.

He remained in the hospital Tuesday.

A caller reported just before 7:30 a.m. that there was a vehicle stopped on the flyover bridge off eastbound Loop 340 with its emergency flashers on.

The caller also reported there was a man lying on the ground under the bridge off eastbound Loop 340.

Robinson police responded and were assisted by a DPS trooper and Waco police units.

An East Texas Medical Center ambulance took Nelson to Hillcrest for treatment.

Police at the scene said the man was not conscious when he was taken from the scene, but was breathing.

Robinson police Lt. Tracy O’Connor said Nelson fell approximately 25- to 30-feet from the bridge to the ground.

Police also said there was an SUV parked on the fly over bridge Interstate 35 above the place where the man was found that was creating a slowdown in traffic moving onto northbound Interstate 35.
